Saberg - The Tundra Beast
Element: Water
Class: Mammal
Talent: Attack
These young monsters are proud of their strength and they are glad to let everyone know. A headbutt from Saberg’s unbreakable horn is capable of shattering solid ice. Those who hear Saberg’s roar can feel a powerful chill pass by.
Personalities and Behaviors
A beast known for their pride and stubborness, Saberg chooses to live without relying on others.
They are solitary and agressive creatures, males especially: while female Saberg huff and keep their distance, males actively compete for territory. Too proud to give in easily, fights between male Saberg often end with the fracturing of one combatant’s horn.
History and Culture
The people of the snowy mountains fear Saberg and their chilling roar. Towns and villages have built walls and hired watchmen in order to keep Saberg from entering and causing havoc. And are torches lit around homes and barriers, repelling the beasts when night comes.
The Mamuwoo who live within these settlements draw Saberg near, as these hungry beast view the docile herbivore as an easy meal. Because Mamuwoo are important to the businesses and livelyhoods of these settlements, the humans there and Saberg are at constant war.
Abilities
Inhabiting the harsh tundra has forced Saberg to evolve and resist freezing weather. Even the most frigid winds do little to slow this beast’s strides.
Saberg are as fearsome in the water as they are on the land. These arctic creatures proudly swim through strong currents and freezing seas. Anything that gets in their way will be pierced by their solid horn.
Along with their impressive physical features, Saberg’s senses are sharp. Their large ears hone in on the movement of prey and other predators in their vicinity. Not even a mice hidden deep in the snow can hide from them.
Ecology
Saberg are apex predators of the tundra. These beasts primarily preys on Chitoppa, as well as Mamuwoo who have strayed from their herd. Because of their overlapping choices of prey Saberg has forced a rivalry with Arctic Luptor.
Diet
These carvinores target the largest monster prey they can find. Saberg will also hunt fish if they are unable to detect anything else. Everyday Saberg must eat one-fifth of their weight to satisfy their speedy metabolism and keep their body warm in the harsh cold.
