Militant and ruthless, Enthropeon's body is a living weapon. Their pincers are capable of gripping flesh and crushing bone, and their tail is filled with paralyzing neurotoxins. Enthropeon live to fight and serve their queen and their colony.
Personalities and Behaviors
Their aggressive personalities makes them hostile to outsiders. It’s not unusual for Enthropeon to attack other beings that they feel are encroaching their colony. These arthopods are especially adverse towards humans.
Enthropeon born within a colony share a hivemind mentality with little variation between individuals. Generally these creatures are dedicated to their colony queen and they follow her orders without question.
Though rare it and the exact cause is unknown, some Enthropeon can defect from their colony. These anomalous Enthropeon have been observed to have distinct personalities from that of their hiveminded counterparts. Some can be seen wondering in the desert alone.
History and Culture
The Subterranean Soldier, and the rivals of the desert people, Enthropeon has competed with humans over territory and food for centuries. Over time Enthropeon developed a fear of humans.
Enthropeon based dishes are popular among the people of the desert. Desert hunters in practice in singling out weakened Enthropeon to capture and prepare for cooking.
Because of their rough history with mankind and their insectoid appearance, Enthropeon are scarcely desired as companions. The Shepherds Guild try to educate people that these creatures can be as good as any Monrade.
Abilities
These vigorous insectoids are naturally built for combat. Enthropeon’s tough body is covered by exoskeleton as hard as stone. Only the strongest monsters can hope to break through Enthropeon’s exterior. Adapting to survive in the beating has made Enthropeon incredibly resistant to Fire magic.
Not only is their defense impressive, their speed and offensive are also admirable. Enthropeon strikes quickly with their toxic tail and razor sharp pincers.
Ecology
Enthropeon makes their home deserts and wastelands, hidden beneath the surface until they need to hunt and gather. These creatures patrol during the day, collecting food as they go.
They exist as mesopredators; alone they are outmatched by the apex predator Akukind, but as a group Enthropeon can overpower their competition.
Diet
There are very few things Enthropeon won’t consume, though they have a preference for fresh meat. They eat slowly to assess their catch for poison and taste. Anything Enthropeon finds safe to eat will be brought to their nest to be shared with the colony.
