What are Drakky Fruit?

Drakky Fruit are sentient fruit-like creatures that are essentially edible bundles of energy. How they’ve come to be aren’t entirely known. Scientists frequently debate what Drakky Fruit should be categorized as fruit, animals or monsters.

Drakky Fruit are found all around the world. Whether they are owned as pets, used in agriculture and food, they are important to the lives they’re a part of.

Drakky Fruit Reproduction

Drakky Fruit are intersex creatures, however, some individuals may take on more typically masculine or feminine traits as they develop.

Drakky Fruit have the ability to reproduce both sexually through pollination, or asexually if there is no mate available. Pollination between more than one individual Drakky Fruit leads to more diverse offspring. Offspring as a result of pollination tend to be more hardy than the cloned offspring produced through asexual reproduction.

Pollination between different types of Drakky Fruit can result in a new breed of Drakky Fruit. In rare cases, a new Drakky Fruit breed will be born from two individual Drakky Fruit of the same breed.

Both reproduction methods produce Seed Eggs, which newborn Drakky Fruit hatch from. In normal circumstances, one to three Drakky Fruit is born to a parent.

Lifespans & Development

Drakky Fruit have different lifespans depending on their breeds. Rare breeds of Drakky Fruit tend to have longer lifespans than basic breeds. The average wild Drakky Fruit lives for one year. Most end up falling prey to monsters before they've fully matured. Basic breeds that are hand-raised can live upwards to three years in an ideal environment, while rarer breeds can live upwards to ten years.

A Drakky Fruit’s exposure to Drakium can have effects on their lifespans. Environments with low amounts of Drakium may cause a Drakky Fruit to be energy deficient and have shorter lifespans, be less colorful and be smaller than average. While environments with high amounts of Drakium may cause a Drakky Fruit to live longer lifespans and grow larger than average, or even gigantic. Also, Drakky Fruit exposed to high amounts of Drakium grow to be more intelligent than Drakky Fruit who aren’t.

Social Behaviors

Drakky Fruit are very social creatures; they live in family groups called bunches. During cold seasons, these bunches will huddle in groups for warmth. There are records of Drakky Fruit bunches finding their way into hot springs to warm up and refresh themselves. Unripe Drakky Fruit will often splash and play in hot springs with their friends.

Drakky Fruit enjoy singing amongst themselves. While the exact purpose of their singing is unknown, it’s believed it is a form of bonding or entertainment for the creatures.

Self Defense

While matured Drakky Fruit may be cute, they carry a powerful bite and they are dangerous for humans and animals to eat. Drakky Fruit tend to hiss as a warning before striking back.

Drakky Fruit can produce poisonous auras that cause humans and animals to become ill on consumption. However, monsters and Draherians are resistant to the Drakky Fruit's defensive poisons and aura.

It is possible to prepare Drakky Fruit meals that are consumable by humans and animals, though the process can take days of preparation. If not prepared correctly, a Drakky Fruit’s poisons can possibly kill a human or animal upon consumption.
