What is Drakium?
Drakium is a form of energy that exists all around the world that can be described as being something like magic. It is found in all life forms and natural resources like ore and water. Drakium is absorbed through the atmosphere and by consuming food and water. Also, the seed-shaped powerhouse of a Drakky Fruit, the Drakky Core, is made from pure consumable Drakium.
Drakium in Lifeforms
Monsters and Draherians can control the bountiful Drakium that flows in their blood with ease to perform abilities, enhance their bodies and heal injuries. While difficult, with diligent training, humans can learn to control Drakium. A basic level of Drakium training is common among the monster taming Shepherd’s Guild as a result of training and exposure to monsters. True mastery of Drakium control by humans is a feat few have accomplished in history.
Monsters, Drakky Fruit and Draherians' lives have grown dependent on this energy. When they are deprived of Drakium they become weak and ill. Humans and animals don’t suffer from the same evolutionary drawback. Also, Monsters and Draherians are vulnerable to losing control of themselves if they are exposed to dangerously high levels of Drakium. Physical effects can range from paralysis and the body shutting down, to uncontrollable transformations. It can also affect one’s mental state, including explosive behavior and memory loss.
Drakium in Ore
In small concentrations it is invisible to the eye. However, when Drakium gathers and becomes highly concentrated it may take on a solid, stone like form. Drakium in this form can be used like batteries to power technology, or empower the one holding it. They are frequently used to craft armor and weaponry. While elite, wealthy people wear solid Drakium as a form of status, usually as body jewelry like earrings, rings and necklaces rather than as an enhancement.
Young monsters call Drakium rich stones Time Ore because these stones allow them to achieve temporary transformations into stronger forms. Monsters can soak these stones in Drakium rich water to recharge their use.
